One of the most popular questions when creating a digital course
The importance of creating a digital course to maximize your time efficiently. Why talk about the same thing over and over when you can just create a course about it?
There are 2 main aspects that I am going to dive into when it comes to how long it will take to create a digital course. These 2 aspects are – “The depends” and “the 4 different stages”.
The depends are factors that influence your course creation time and the 4 stages are the stages of your digital course creation and how the timing of creating your course will fit into these stages.

The depends
When somebody asks me “how long does it take to create a digital course?” I always say, “well, it depends”.
Is this your first course?
If this is your first time creating a digital course, it will take a lot longer because you still don’t know all the things you need to know and all the things you need to do. There are very often huge mindset blocks in the beginning, with questions like “is this good enough?” or “what if they don’t want it?”. This causes women to procrastinate or create the product and not get it out there.
THIS IS NORMAL! It is very common and if you are feeling this way, just know that there is nothing wrong with you! Having a coach or someone to walk you through the steps will help you with this feeling of being stuck and be able to get you going!
What type of course is it?
Whether it is a low ticket or high ticket course is a very important question and will greatly affect the time it will take to create your course.
With a low ticket course you will need to have it done as soon as possible to get it out and sell it. With a high ticket course you can pre-sell it, this means that you don’t have to create it all in advance.
Knowing the differences between a low ticket and high ticket course and the reason why you would choose either is very important. Low ticket courses will bring in an audience where a high ticket course is to sell to the audience you already have.
The 4 stages of digital course creation
- The creation stage
- This is the stage where you are coming up with your ideas and deciding who your audience is. This stage involves a lot of thinking and note making.
- The build stage
- This is the stage where you are actually creating the course. You are creating the content, recording videos, putting it in your members area and creating your sales funnel to sell it.
- Grow your course stage
- This is where you grow your course and sell it with ads. You bring in more people to your course.
- The expansion stage
- This is the scaling stage where you grow your business even further.

If you have stage 1 sorted and ready with an outline then the actual building process doesn’t have to take that long. Having someone to walk you through the steps will greatly help the process and it should only take you 3-6 months to build your course.
The first 2 stages will take you between 3-6 months and then the last 2 stages should take another 6 months. So in its entirety your full digital course creation should take you 1 year.
